Trackist vs FitnessAI compares 2 AI apps that tell you what to lift. FitnessAI picks the exercises, sets, reps and weight for each workout, and its site advertises sessions of 5 to 30 minutes. Trackist asks 14 questions, writes a plan for the next 4 to 12 weeks, suggests today’s weight and rewrites the plan when you say something is wrong. Here is what each does well, and when FitnessAI is the better pick.
Which one should you pick?
Pick FitnessAI if you want short sessions, an Apple Watch or Android app, and a clear answer to what you lift today.
Pick Trackist if you want to see the weeks ahead, and want the plan to react when a session was too hard or your shoulder hurts on the bench.
What FitnessAI does well
FitnessAI keeps the gym simple. Open it and today’s workout is ready, with the sets, reps and weight already chosen. Tap a set to log it. The app tells you how long to rest and adjusts the difficulty for next time. Its site advertises sessions of 5 to 30 minutes, which suits a lunch break.
It works with the equipment you have, at the gym, at home or on the road, and you can swap exercises. Guided videos and muscle visuals show you the form. It runs on iPhone, Apple Watch and Android, and syncs workouts with Apple Health. On the US App Store it has a 4.7 rating from about 56,000 ratings.
It also has extras Trackist does not:
- a real person: you can message the FitnessAI team in the app when you need advice
- challenges: every workout earns a point, and the top of the leaderboard wins prizes
- BodyScan: a 3D scan with the iPhone camera that estimates body fat and lean mass, sold as a $9.99 a month subscription
The US App Store lists several memberships: $9.99, $14.99 or $19.99 a month, $59.99 or $89.99 a year, plus weekly and quarterly options. FitnessAI’s own site shows its Premium Plan at $89 a year.
Where Trackist is different
You see the plan, not only today
FitnessAI is built around the workout in front of you. Trackist is built around the plan. From 14 questions about your goal, experience, equipment, joints, schedule, session length and age, it writes a plan of 4 to 12 weeks on the weekdays you pick. You see the training week and the shape of the whole plan before you start.
Above each exercise, Trackist suggests today’s weight from your last session, in steps that fit the equipment: 2.5 kg on a barbell, 2 kg on dumbbells. In a plan of 6 weeks or more, the last week is a deload, a lighter week at 60% of the sets, so you recover before the next plan.
You can tell it what went wrong
- Too hard or too easy: said once, it is noted. Said again in a later week, Trackist rewrites the day or rebuilds the rest of the plan.
- Pain: tell it the exercise, the joint and how bad it is. You get a swap that trains the same muscle, picked by the coach or chosen by you from the library. A shoulder that hurts when pressing still gets rows and pulldowns. Trackist stores the limitation, so later plans avoid it.
- The plan ends: you get a recap, and the coach writes the next plan from how this one went, including what you skipped and where you stalled.
It shows where you stand
The Strength Score reads 90 days of loaded squat, hinge (deadlifts and similar), push and pull sets, and gives you a score out of 100 and a Strength Age. Momentum is a reading out of 100 that builds as you train and fades slowly when you miss sessions, without resetting like a streak. Trackist also tracks your body weight and 9 measurement sites.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Does Trackist work with Apple Health?
Yes. Trackist reads steps, weight and recorded cardio from Apple Health, and writes your weight back. A workout you recorded there can fill a planned cardio finisher or rest-day walk. FitnessAI syncs workouts with Apple Health too.
Does FitnessAI give you a full workout plan?
FitnessAI plans each workout: the exercises, sets, reps and weight, adjusted every time you train. Its App Store page and site describe the next workout, not a plan with a set number of weeks. Trackist writes that plan, 4 to 12 weeks long, and shows it before you start.
Which app is better for short workouts?
FitnessAI. Its site advertises sessions of 5 to 30 minutes. Trackist asks how long your sessions are and fits the plan to that. If you mostly want quick workouts, FitnessAI is built for them.
Does Trackist work on Apple Watch or Android?
Not yet. Trackist is iPhone only, and the Android app is being built. The rest countdown runs as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. If you want a watch app or Android today, FitnessAI has both.
