Trackist vs JuggernautAI compares 2 AI coaches built for different lifters. JuggernautAI, from Juggernaut Training Systems, programs your squat, bench and deadlift and can peak you for a meet date. Trackist writes a gym plan for the next 4 to 12 weeks, suggests today’s weight and changes the plan when something hurts. If you compete in powerlifting, JuggernautAI is probably the better app, and this page says why.
Which one should you pick?
Pick JuggernautAI if you compete in powerlifting, or train for a bigger total, and want your squat, bench and deadlift programmed towards a meet.
Pick Trackist if you train for muscle and general strength, and the 3 competition lifts are not the point.
What JuggernautAI does well
JuggernautAI is built by Juggernaut Training Systems and designed by coach Chad Wesley Smith. You pick Powerlifting, built around the squat, bench and deadlift, or Powerbuilding, which splits the focus between strength and muscle. You tell it about yourself, your experience and your strength goals. It then sets how much you train, how often you squat, bench and deadlift, and which extra exercises target your weak points. You can train 2 to 6 days a week.
Meet prep is where it stands out. Give it a competition date at least 4 weeks away, and it mixes phases for muscle, strength and peaking so you are at your strongest on the day. Its Meet Day Advisor then uses your training to pick your attempts.
It also adjusts the day as you go. Before a session you answer a readiness check-in. During warm-ups you rate each set as worse than expected, as expected or stronger, and it moves your top set. In its own example, a warm-up at 157.5 kg felt stronger than expected and one at 180 kg felt as expected. The planned 190 kg top set could then go up to 192.5 kg. When you report fatigue, it cuts the volume.
It also has a warm-up planner with plate math, an RPE calculator and more than 300 technique videos. Members get a private Facebook group for form feedback and a weekly video Q&A with Juggernaut coaches. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android. It has a 4.8 rating from about 5,700 App Store ratings and 4.6 from about 2,600 Google Play reviews.
JuggernautAI's coaching needs a subscription: the App Store lists $34.99 a month, and JuggernautAI's own site also lists $349.99 a year and a 2-week free trial.
Where Trackist is different
JuggernautAI expects you to know the 3 lifts. Its site recommends that you have done the squat, bench press and deadlift before you start. Trackist starts wherever you are.
You answer 14 questions about your goal, experience, equipment, joints, schedule, session length and age. Trackist writes a plan for the next 4 to 12 weeks, around the weekdays you pick and the equipment you can reach. In a plan of 6 weeks or more, the last week is a deload: the same weights at 60% of the sets.
Then the plan responds to you:
- Too hard or too easy: the first report is noted. If it comes back in a later week, Trackist rewrites the day or rebuilds the rest of the plan.
- Something hurts: name the exercise, the joint and how bad it is. The coach picks a replacement that trains the same muscle, or you pick one from the library. Either way, Trackist keeps the limitation on your profile.
- The plan ends: you get a recap, and the next plan is written from this one.
The weight works differently too. Trackist does not move your top set during warm-ups. Above each exercise, one line suggests today's weight from your last session's sets and their RPE, a rating of how hard each set felt from 1 to 10. On a barbell it adds 2.5 kg at a time. When you fall short of the reps, it keeps the weight or takes 5% off, depending on how far short you fell and how hard the sets felt.

What Trackist does not have
JuggernautAI wins on everything a meet needs:
- No peaking for a meet date and no attempt selection.
- No weights from percentages of your max or RPE targets, beyond the one suggested weight.
- No plate calculator, no warm-up planner and no warm-up sets in the plan.
- No technique videos. The 201 exercises have written cues and a muscle map.
- No community group and no Q&A with coaches.
- No Android app yet, and no iPad app.
- No offline logging. Logging needs an internet connection.
Which one fits you
JuggernautAI, if you have a meet on the calendar or your total matters more than anything else you do in the gym. For a competitive powerlifter it is the better tool, and the price buys programming from a well-known strength team.
Trackist, if you want a gym plan that fits your week and your joints. See what Trackist does for powerlifters, or run percentages yourself with 5/3/1 for beginners.
FAQ
Questions, answered.
How does Trackist pick the weight for today?
One line above each exercise suggests today’s weight from your last session’s sets and their RPE. On a barbell it adds 2.5 kg at a time. When you fall short of the reps, it keeps the weight or takes 5% off, depending on how far short you fell and how hard the sets felt. JuggernautAI moves your top set from your warm-up ratings. Trackist does not.
Can Trackist prepare me for a powerlifting meet?
No. Trackist does not peak you for a meet date, pick attempts or program weights from percentages of your max. It logs weight, reps and RPE on every set and tracks your estimated one-rep max and records on each lift. If you are preparing for a meet, JuggernautAI is built for that job.
Is JuggernautAI good for beginners?
Its site says it suits lifters of all levels, and recommends that you have done the squat, bench press and deadlift before. The 2 goals its store page offers, Powerlifting and Powerbuilding, are both built on those 3 lifts. If you are new to the gym, Trackist writes your plan from 14 questions about where you are now.
Does JuggernautAI work on Android?
Yes. JuggernautAI runs on iPhone, iPad and Android. Trackist is on the App Store for iPhone today, and the Android app is being built. If you train with an Android phone now, JuggernautAI is the one you can use.
